b'Celebrating 20 years of visual artOur Summer Art Weeks are always a special occasion. But this year we had an extra reason to celebrate because its our 20th birthday! From our early days in 2000, when the biennial event organised by the Council was called Warwickshire Arts & Heritage Week (then Warwickshire ArtsWeek), we have always been open to allfrom passionate amateurs to professional artists. Since it became Warwickshire Open Studios in 2012, the now annual event is run entirely by a team of volunteers. Although the name and the committee have changed over the years, the premise is still the same: to help talented artists across Warwickshire and Coventry connect with art lovers who enjoy, buy, commission or participate in their work.Since its humble beginnings, Warwickshire Open Studios has grown considerably into an extremely successful organisation. And were growing every year, with a steady increase in members (currently 390) and over 320 exhibiting artists who signed up this year. Sadly we had to cancel this years event in the interest of our artists and visitors, but we look forward to returning even bigger next year when we will celebrate our 21st birthday instead! This will also tie in nicely with Coventry City of Culture 2021. Meanwhile we will continue to develop and look for new opportunities for our members. Weve exciting plans for the future, so make sure you keep up to date by joining our mailing list, liking us on Facebook or following us on Instagram.Don Mason,WOS Director'
